Privacy Policy

ChessTilt does not collect, store, transmit or sell any personal information. There is no account, no login and no server. Everything the app knows about you lives on your iPhone, and nothing is ever sent to Alessio Bezzi or to any third party for analytics or advertising.

1. What ChessTilt stores, and where

To do its job the app keeps a record on your device. That record is written to the app’s own private storage area, which only ChessTilt can read, and it is included in your encrypted iPhone or iCloud device backup if you use one. It contains:

• The chess site (Lichess or Chess.com) and the public username you chose to connect.
• A history of your games from those public accounts: date, time control, result, duration, opponent name and rating change.
• Your rating history for bullet, blitz, rapid and classical.
• The limits you set, your discipline streaks, and whether you dismissed a tilt warning.
• Two preferences (light or dark appearance, and which notifications you enabled).

None of this is transmitted anywhere. It is not backed up to any service operated by the developer, because no such service exists.

2. The only network requests the app makes

ChessTilt talks to exactly two places, and only to read chess data that is already public:

• lichess.org — to fetch your public rating history and your recent public games.
• api.chess.com — to fetch your public monthly game archives.

These requests contain the username you entered and are otherwise anonymous. As with any internet request, those services will see your IP address and can log the request; this is outside the developer’s control and is governed by their own policies: Lichess privacy and Chess.com privacy.

The requests identify the app with a standard User-Agent header containing the app name, its version and the developer’s contact email, as those services ask API clients to do. That email is the developer’s, not yours.

3. No password, ever

ChessTilt never asks for your chess account password and does not use OAuth or any other sign-in. It cannot log into your account, cannot play moves, and cannot change anything on Lichess or Chess.com. It only reads public information — the same information anyone could see by visiting your profile page.

4. Notifications

If you turn on evening check-ins or the morning tilt report, those notifications are composed and scheduled entirely on your device by iOS. No push server is involved, no device token is registered, and no notification content leaves your iPhone. You can turn them off at any time in the app or in iOS Settings.

5. No analytics, no tracking, no ads

ChessTilt contains no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting SDK, no advertising framework and no third-party code of any kind. It does not use cookies, does not fingerprint your device, does not track you across apps or websites, and does not use the Advertising Identifier. There is no App Tracking Transparency prompt because there is nothing to ask you about.

6. Children

ChessTilt is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Because nothing is collected, there is nothing to disclose, delete or restrict under COPPA, the GDPR or comparable laws.

7. Your control over your data

You can remove everything at any time:

• Disconnect an account in the Limits tab to erase that account’s games and rating history from the app.
• Delete the app. iOS removes its entire storage area with it. Nothing survives, because nothing was ever stored elsewhere.

Since the developer holds no data about you, there is nothing to request access to, correct, export or have deleted. If you would like this confirmed in writing for your own records, just ask.

8. Changes to this policy

If a future version of ChessTilt ever changes what it stores or which services it contacts, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change. The app will never begin collecting personal data in a silent update.
